Image Avant Queer Fest, Atlanta
“Jennifer Gentile kicks off the program with the light My Pretty Little Girlfriend , a graceful meditation in which the simple action of eating a juicy hamburger, shown in all of its grotesque detail, marks the end between two young women. My Pretty Little Girlfriend hilariously shows how a single argument can encapsulate the entire relationship and dynamic between two lovers.”
– Kimberly Yutani, On Screen Film Video & TV Reviews Southern Voice, January 1998

My Pretty Little Girlfriend
“Jennifer Gentiles vicious little vignette looks in on a lesbian couple whose bitter bickering over a burger escalates explosively. This bleak peek at a delightfully dysfunctional pair is a welcome remedy to the pat homotopias which all too frequently crop up in queer cinema.”
– Eddie Von Mueller, The Big Picture, January 1998

Outfest 1997, Los Angeles
“A refreshing short in the Not Very Ladylike screening at the DGA is Jennifer Gentile’s My Pretty Little Girlfriend. Never has a burger looked so good, and I don’t eat meat, okay. The truth drips from this hungry couple’s lips like the luscious ketchup trickling from burger to bun, to finger. Sharp wit propels this movie to its quick, surprise ending. Be there!”
The Lesbian News, July 1997

Women In Shorts : Huntington Beach Art Center and American Cinemateque
“Local filmmaker Jennifer Gentile weighs in her girl-fight-gone-bad vignette, My pretty Little Girlfriend, which showcases Gentile’s interesting stylization’s”
– Hazel-Dawn Dumper t, LA Weekly, November 1997

OC Weekly Review
“I might call it the worst film I’d seen this year if not for Jennifer Gentile’s pretentious seven minute jerkoff My Pretty Little Girlfriend, which is also on the bill that night. Both films are bitter pills…”
– GS , Orange County Weekly, November 1997
